The Art of Thanksgiving: Color With Kindness

Service Type:

Speaker: Dr Jon Lovelady | Series: The Art of Thanksgiving

We begin a new sermon series this week entitled, “The Art of Thanksgiving.” As we approach the holiday of Thanksgiving, it is important to recognize the impact and power of giving thanks in our lives, especially to God. One of the great impacts of thanksgiving is that it leads us to respond to life with kindness. In our world it seems that anger and division are growing! We need more basic kindness! How can we experience kindness, or better yet, share it with others? In the sermon “Color with Kindness,” we turn to Psalm 103 which is infused with thanksgiving for God’s loving-kindness to us! God wants to enable our lives to reflect this kindness in our hearts. Psalm 103:1-8 shares with us the exceptional joy of giving thanks, but also a path to finding a powerful loving-kindness that will lift our tired spirits! Psalm 103: Of David. Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. (NIV)
